About the Event
Join us on Friday, May 16th, for the first screening of the library's Anime Club for Adults! We will be watching the Hayo Miyazaki film Porco Rosso. This event is FREE to attend, and everyone is welcome! No library card needed.
Porco Rosso follows the story of an Italian World War I veteran, Marco Pagot, who has been mysteriously transformed into a pig. He becomes a skilled and solitary pilot, flying his red seaplane and taking on dangerous air pirates over the Adriatic Sea. Though he’s a reluctant hero, Porco (as he’s called) has a deep sense of honor and often helps those in need. The film explores themes of redemption, friendship, and the effects of war, as Porco’s past and his personal struggles slowly come to light. Throughout his adventures, he finds new connections and begins to confront his inner demons, especially through his interactions with a talented mechanic…
